Com afecta la calor a les mascotes

Els animals, igual que succeeix als éssers humans, també pateixen les altes temperatures. Les altes temperatures poden portar morts sobtades, sobretot en aquelles races més susceptibles com buldogs, bòxers o mascotes obeses. Tot i això, cap mascota està absenta de riscos davant les altes temperatures.

Tot i que el més comú és que els gossos siguin les mascotes més afectades, les altes temperatures no només poden causar problemes en ells sinó que moltes d’altres espècies es poden veure afectades.

Els conills, per exemple, són espècies que toleren molt bé el fred i construeixen caus molt càlids i confortables. Però la calor ens pot jugar una mala passada i provocar greus problemes de Salut en aquestes espècies. És molt important no deixar les gàbies dels conills a la intempèrie en les hores de més calor.

Les aus són una altra mascota que poden veure’s afectades per la calor. En aquest cas, aus tropicals estan més acostumades a les altes temperatures però ha d’anar lligat d’un alt percentatge d’humitat. La calor pot provocar alteracions en les postes així com problemes respiratoris en els ocells.

Un cop comencen a pujar les temperatures hem de prendre una sèrie de precaucions per evitar mals majors. És important no treure a passejar a les nostres mascotes en les hores més fortes de calor. Intentarem treure-les a primera hora del matí, última hora de la tarda o nit. Sempre que sortim a passejar, durem una botella d’aigua i un recipient perquè la mascota pugui beure.

Si pel que fos sospitéssim que la nostra mascota està patint un cop de calor, mai hem de ruixar-los amb aigua donat que la impossibilitat de transpirar per la pell encara farà pujar més la temperatura. El més adient és mullar els coixinets amb aigua freda i contactar ràpidament amb un veterinari.
